Hooks

Wandering Mercenary - From the city-states of Eorzea to the villages of Othard, Khali travels wherever there are monsters to be found, of all kinds. Whether you want to hire her services for a job or accidentally intrude on her business, she can be found all over the place. Note: She only does monster hunting or protection contracts now.Didn't you Die? (Dotharl only) - After a particularly brutal Naadam battle, Khali disappeared from the tribe almost entirely. Many of those who knew her simply thought she died in a blaze of glory on the battlefield. Perhaps you were one of Khali's old tribe members. running into her randomly and happening to recognize her despite how different she looks now. Or, perhaps you were one of the few who actually saw Khali after the Naadam, sneaking into her parents' yurt before running off into the unknown?Dragonsong War Veteran - Although not an Ishgardian herself, Khali worked alongside a vassal of House Haillenarte in a free company that traveled to Ishgard to aid in the War. Notably, said free company was wiped out during the final battle with Nidhogg's forces. Maybe you met her during the various skirmishes with the dragons and dragonkin before the end of the war?Ishgardian Community Service - In the wake of the Dragonsong War, Khali got into a spat with one of the nobles which eventually led to her getting in trouble with the Temple Guard. However, this happened right as the Restoration Project was starting up, so she was given a unique opportunity by House Haillenarte to clean up her reputation by putting her skills as a blacksmith to work in helping to develop the Firmament. Maybe you directly helped with the project and saw her during that time, or maybe you are an Ishgardian native who happens to see her at the Firmament, offering her services to the people who need them.Inner Fire - Khali is in the position where her own fire-aspected aether has mixed with a hefty amount of dense draconic aether. Khali's unique condition means that sometimes she finds herself overheating after a particularly rough patch in her day, and sometimes this manifests physically. Maybe you have a keen sense for aether and you notice that Khali's aether is heavily fire-aspected and dense with draconic aether, or maybe you run into her in a secluded location, billowing steam as she snacks on something ice cold to help her calm down.Draconic Heritage - Khali is an odd sight in of itself, with obsidian black scales, blood-red eyes, and near blinding limbral rings, not to mention the fact that she's a fair bit taller than many other female xaela. She's bound to draw eyes no matter where she goes.High House Drama - Khali has been in and out of Ishgard over the past few years and has garnered a certain... reputation amongst the various houses. In particular, she has a very good working relationship with the Haillenartes, having previously fought alongside them in the Dragonsong War and later working for them as a metalworker in the Ishgardian Restoration Project. On the other hand, an incident that resulted in Khali punching the lights out of a particular nobleman who skimped on her contract has earned her the ire of House Dzemael.

Background

Khali is a wandering mercenary that is currently making the rounds about Eorzea, taking on every job that suits her fancy. Hunts, escorts, bounties, she's eager to take them all on. But just because she's eager to take on a job doesn't mean she'll actually show it. No, this short Xaela is definitely one of the grouchier mercs you could hire, if not the grouchiest. Khali is a woman of harsh words and harsher actions, born from a lifestyle chock full of strife. Born in Dravanaia but raised in the Azim Steppe to a Dotharl man and an elusive Moks woman, Khali has constantly been torn between two very different cultures, though her parents did their best to ease her into teaching both cultures. While well-intentioned, neither of them was fully equipped for either Khali's awakening Will of Karash, or her developing an aetheric imbalance towards fire. The death of her father during what was supposed to be a simple skirmish when she was only ten summers only served to exacerbate the growing sense of distance that she felt towards her people. She kept pushing herself forward however, proving her mettle again and again under her mother's watchful eye until she was able to finally able to conquer Bardam's Mettle and become a warrior of the Steppe, as well as gaining a Yol of her own which she named Baihingor. But even as she pushed herself to greater heights of glory, her condition only worsened until it reached a boiling point during the Naadam when she was fifteen summers. While clashing with the Chaghan, Khali well and truly went off the handle, flying into a rage that was so intense that the fire-aspected aether within her ignited, consuming the area around her in a conflagration. When the dust settled, several bodies lay around her, including that of her mother. The few Chaghan that stayed behind attempted to bring her under their wing, but she firmly rebuffed them with gouts of flame. The death of Khali's mother made her come to the decision that she was not fit to live on the Steppe. She planned to slip away in the middle of the night and she quietly looted her parents' abandoned yurt in the middle of the night and then fled the Steppe entirely, stopping only at Reunion to get information from one of her mother's relatives. From there, she moved south into Yanxia, moving from place to place to avoid the Imperial patrols. She kept this up until she arrived at a sleepy fishing village by the coast, and encountered a samurai in hiding. After spending some time helping around the village, she eventually convinced the samurai to teach her the way of the katana. She spent about a year training with the samurai before the village was attacked by a Garlean patrol that had received reports of hidden rebels. During the fight, Khali was drawn into the Will of Karash once more and when she awoke, neither the Garleans nor the villagers remained, including her mentor.Over the next few years Khali traveled from place to place, taking on whatever job she could get her hands on. From escort missions in Kugane, to foraging in Thavnair, to bounty hunting and blacksmithing in Coerthas, Khali threw herself into her work at every opportunity. Slowly but surely, she built up a persona around herself: one of a gruff mercenary who refuses to take shit from anyone, utterly confident in herself and her actions.Recently, however, Khali has undergone some drastic changes herself and learned some rather important information that her parents kept from her. After pushing herself to her very limits and being pumped with draconic aether, Khali has turned into a dragonspawn. Now in a very different body and exposed to a heritage she didn't know she had, the xaela-turned dragonspawn is left wondering how much of her life has been a deception for something else entirely. With this in mind, and growing frustration within Ishgard society, Khali has moved operations out to Idyllshire, plying her trade as a blacksmith for the adventurers and goblins of the area while she figures out what to do with herself.

- IC =/= OOC. Khali's feelings and opinions are not the same as the player, under any circumstance. If you ever have an issue, feel free to bring it up so we can talk things out.
- I don't have a specific post-length requirement, and will typically try to match any RP partners post length.
- I'm not good with shipping out of the blue unless with it's with close friends. Even then, I would prefer to let relationships fold out naturally before trying to push for anything more intimate.
- I'm good with RPing on either Discord or ingame. Let me know which one works better for you.
